More amazing tracks on this compilation album than on any other Iron & Wine album, and that is saying something. Beam intertwines sublimely poetic lyrics with skillful guitarwork and subtly catchy melodies that keep you coming back from more. Highlights include "Morning," "Friends they are jewels," "communion cups," "belated promise ring," and "kingdom of the animals," but each track is a highlight in its own unique way.
Genuine emotional music

The trapeze swinger is quite possibly the best song ever written lyrics wise. Underrated should be all over the place

Such a chill album, but very thought-stimulating as well. Worth every penny.

I truly believe that this is the best Iron & Wine album. It has a similar sound to The Creek Drank the Cradle, I&W's first album. The raspy, soft voice is very similar on both albums, as well as the overall folk sound.
I believe that this album is stronger lyrically. It emphasizes what is important in life, wether it be small things or important things like our friends and family. The lyrics are very personal to beam, I am guessing. But if you listen to the songs enough and read the lyrics carefully, you can connect with them and either understand their meaning or find your own connection. Almost every song on this album is beautiful. It is very slow paced and there is a lot of symbolism in that itself. It shows that we need to slow down and enjoy life as it is, quit worrying. We aren't going to be on this earth forever, so we need to find importance in every little thing we can be thankful for.
This album is very solid all around. It has lots of meaning, it's like poetry and peacefulness... rather than music.
Cheers, Sam! Thanks for an amazing CD

I heard No Moon on a pandora station and instantly fell in love with Iron and Wine. I've bought 3 albums now, listened to all of them repeatedly, and I am dumbfounded by the poetic genius of Sam Beam's songwriting. This album of B-tracks is my favorite of all of them because of its obvious raw passion. How many singers or groups can capture their sound on the b-side of their albums so completely? Buy this, and everything else he has made!
Sheer genius.

And it's only 8 bucks? What a steal! His voice is so soothing and comforting, and the lyrics are like poetry. Beautiful and sweet and often sad. Wonderful album, a must have.

This is an excellent blend of older and newer Iron & Wine material. The album is great, but Sam is even better live. Get this now!
