Reviews

  • An interesting addition to the series

This album is almost like a "Best Of", because a few songs sound like some of the best from the series. For example: "Baaaby" is a lo-fi groove like "Remember Me", "Alive" is almost like "Afros In Ya" only better, and "Life" is an acoustic bass centered song like "Truth In Position" By Maspyke from Vol. 4. All and All, It seems to be more refined than the rest in the series. This is a truly great production. Thank you Mark Farina and Om Records!

Mark Farina has the temerity to declare this music Jazz...thats either extremely naive or disingenuous. I often read strange staff reviews on iTunes that make me wonder where these writers get their credentials. I actually like some of the downtempo electronica thats out there, very cool nice sounds... but it is what is and it is not what it is not. This particular series I wouldn't even give the benefit of doubt and call it "Jazz influenced"...this music has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jazz...not even a distant cousin. Jazz takes many forms on a broad spectrum of expression, there are so many styles and genres within the genre that it is, sometimes indefinable... even the great Miles Davis experimentations pushed the envelope so far it was cause for controversy. But this ...LOL.

Looking back at my collection of Mushroom Jazz cd's 2 through 6, I have to say that this is by far one of his smoothest CD. Don't sleep on this one!

A great recording front to back, well done. Very much so a smooth compilation of style, emotion and thought. Can't wait to see it live.

I was glad to buy this album on CD, instead of downloading it, but I need to complete some more of Mushroom Jazz volumes 1-5 so I recently got Vol. 6 first to listen to the entire time and liked it so much!! I'm gonna finish buying more of those trip-hop, R&B, jazz, hip hop & house music for my music collection when I have completed 1000 songs!
  • Awesome!!!

Slow & Deep sound of this CD making you slide down in the world of Soul and Chill music... I was really surprised, cause I'm not in love with Hip-Hop.... but THIS compilation makes me really happy when I'm sad...
  • Groovin' and Baaaby are the best!!

Wow, its great to see that mark farina is back with another mushroom jazz and on top of that, it is at #1 on itunes. it's not often, you can hear these kind of beats on a album that reaches the top of sales charts. more importantly, its great to see that this legendary series is still going on since the mid 1990's. farina is definately the master of smooth blends with awesome selections but my favorite on this album have to be Groovin' by Kero One and Baaaby by tarrach. highly recommeneded!
