Frontiers

Jesse’s 6th studio album is another jewel of music. I love the variety of this album. From fast tracks like Matisse the Cat and Cafe Mocha at the beginning and Havana later on, to the slower and more melancholy Rain and El Cri, and the great Dylan-cover It Ain’t Me Babe, the album covers a nice variety and not a single track is a filler. Jesse’s skill comes through in every piece. Just an amazing album.

The song (in its entirety) is a total disappointment and over priced. Jesse Cook is definitely an over-rated copy cat of Vicente Amigo and the Gypsy Kings.

Jesse Cook is AWESOME and Cafe Mocha is one of my favorites from the Frontiers album. His music is incredibly energetic and fun. I happily discovered Jesse Cook from the Internet music station, Pandora, and have been hooked ever since. I cannot wait to see Jesse in person at the Granada Theater in Dallas, TX on April 9, 2011. WOO HOO!!

Sometimes I am in the mood for acid Flamenco and sometimes I am in the mood for Nuevo Flamenco. In either time of those times, I am touched to the core by Jesse Cook's music. How he manages to work in some classic rock and some Arabic incluence baffles me. Thanks Jesse!

I usually do not write reviews for anything I buy online, however, I thought I would make an exception for Jesse Cook. Every single song of this album is great. I really like his diversified approach, like adding vocals or the smooth sound of violin in the background etc. I gave it 5 stars because I could not give more. He deserves at least 7. I am planning to buy his latest album soon. Thank you Jesse Cook for your great and unforgetable music.

I listened to the flamenco guitar for 50 years and this is about as good as it gets

Does anyone know who the singer on It Ain't Me Babe is? I love her voice and the song. I heard the song on NPR but took forever to find it because I thought it would be listed under the name of a woman singer. I like the entire album but this song is my favorite because of the woman's singing.

I have 3 other Jesse Cook albums, and this one is sub-par. The playing, while electifying in spots, is inconsistent. The buzzing of miss-played notes is more obvious than his usual fiery virtuosity. There are many musical ideas that are hinted at but sadly left unexplored. On some of his other work, the percussion is much more brilliant than in this album. If this album is to be your first, or only, Jesse Cook CD, I recommend that you purchase the Montreal album instead - now that is Jesse at his finest.
