Hearing Drop through it's evolution first hand

I am fortunate enough to be a live sound engineer in Chicago (their home town) and I have mixed this band numerous times through all it's incarnations. "Keep On" and "Denied" are two songs which should always be played back to back. The guitar work of Jimmy Haboush and Pat Davey are so dynamic between the two songs it shows just what the band is capable of. The lyrics on this outting are Freeman's best works and definately give the listener an appetite to check out the bands first EP "Perfect Absolution". The departure of Billy Freeman after Pittifuly Human and the entrance of Russ Stevens with the Suckerpunch release is comparable to Ozzy leaving Sabbath and Dio joining the band. Equally enjoyable but completely different styles. Suckerpunch gets much heavier with Steven's rasp vocals in contrast to Freeman's melodic 90's styles on their first two releases. Even with the differences between the two, any Drop disc will fullfill your desire for heavy "in your face" guitar work and slammin' grooves.
Two Thumbs Up!!!

When I first purchased this cd I didnt know what to expect. The bands other release, Suckerpunch, is similar in musical stylings but vocally much different. Pitifully Human features a different singer by the name of Billy Freeman who tends to have a more Creed / STP / Days of the New type of voice. Guitar riffs are heavy and catchy. "Sorry", "Wasted" and "Runaway" are my favs but there is an unexpected mellow tune as well called "Keep On" that has a very nice guitar hook that adds lots of feeleing to this song. I would recomend this cd to anyone and find it worthy of 4 stars!
