First thing this genre is NOT LATIN - it's 110% Mediterranean. It's a magical combo of Sephardic Ladino, Flameco and the rest of the Mediterranean melting pot brought to you through the voice of an angel from Israel. Yasmin's voice stirs my very heart & soul...5 stars is not enough !!!

The music is beautiful, but establishing a genre is confusing for someone noting the Jewish last name, the Spanish song names -- especially the song title: I was Born in Alamo. To set the "record" straight, Yasmin Levy was born in Jerusalem and raised by parents who included a top Ladino scholar. Her background and scholarly upbringing creates the backdrop for her superb and haunting music style. In this her second album, Ladino and Flaminco are combined into some very memorable songs which the short samples herein really don't allow you to hear. Trust your instincts!
