Most of this band is my extended family. Uncle Jessie played the bodhran, cousin Terry Winch wrote most of the music, and the woman singer is Stephanie... I would sit on my mother's lap in pubs while watching them live. When New York Was Irish is still my favorite song, and the drumming/tap on some of the songs is absolutely incredible. Their tap dancer won multiple awards and was "old school," and I think technically as good/better than Lord of the Dance. They performed once at the White House, but even better than any of their pub performances were the family parties and get-togethers where everyone would join in and just dance to reels in a cramped dining room.
I miss those days.

THIS is the TRUE celtic thunder--not that imitation, over-produced copycat on PBS. These songs are so beautiful and authentically Irish. I love the mix of ballads and reels and jigs. Irish fans will delight in any of their albums. Also, I know one of the members of the band writes beautiful poetry--many poems about the world of Irish Americans. If you love true Irish music, you will love Celtic Thunder!

This is a nice album with classic sounding Irish music, but don't mistake it for Celtic Thunder as seen on PBS. This is a totally different group. As a thunderhead, I got confused too when I saw this album, but when listening to the previews, I quickly realized that this isn't the CT that features the 5 (now 6) male vocalists. So, as a warning to those who are about to buy this and are expecting a different group, don't buy it unless you like it!!!

I was irritated to find out that this is not THE Celtic Thunder group. (George Donaldson, Kieth Harkin, Damian McGinty, Ryan Kelly, Paul Byrom). Very dissapointing...

This band was one of the first traditional Irish music groups in America in the wake of the whole mid 70's revival in Ireland. This album is good, but what is sorely missed on Itunes and long out of print is their 1st album with is a lot better. This album suffers from tacky 80's production..though not as overly tacky as other green linnet releases at the time..
umm?.....

I don't know about this show on PBS, but I used to see this band in pubs in the DC area back in the 80's. They are great, and I'm thrilled to see them on iTunes, because my old cassette is dead. Listen to When New York was Irish!
not the PBS Celtic Thunder

This band premiered back in the 1980's. It's not the PBS guys. I don't know why itunes doesn't have the correct biography for this band. This is a great album, try "When New York Was Irish" and "Galway Ghost". They're very moving songs.
its okay

I like them but not obsessed. the main reason i'm into them is because of Keith and Damian. They look nice (LOL) and their voices are better than the average teen pop star in the US- like the Jonas Bro's (sorry guys!). But Celtic Woman, they are so better!

This isn't the group of 5 men that was on PBS. Not sure who these people are,but it isn't Ryan,Paul,George,Damien or Keith.
