  • Great Evolution Of Sound

I followed these guys on the festival scene for years and fell in love with their sound the first time I heard them. I learned to play the didgeridoo because of them. This album was a departure for them as they ventured in to new ground with a more polished, electronica sound. I think the experiment worked! Songs like Fly Away and Crazy are fantastic and 10 years later, I still listen to them. I can't, for the life of me, understand why Brother never became huge. They brought a very unique style to their music and have very mature lyrics, but I guess they weren't marketed very well. That's Ok....I like to keep them in the underground....or should I say, Down Underground. Yeah...an Aussie pun.
  • The Best CD of Brother's

This album brought Brother in to the 21st century--with the use of electronica mixed with their specific brand of bagpipe-rock--and they did it very well. Great album to listen to the whole way through.

There are some moments that aren't the greatest and seem to get overdone. But those are neither here nor there when you listen to this album as a whole. The fact that a lot of the tracks were done with one take really does give it a raw feel. I love the idea of using a bagpipe as a backing instrument, unlike a lot of other bands in the same game. The bagpipe add subtlety to the mix. It doesn't get over done and adds just a little extra flavore. Too bad they aren't as popular as bands with less to offer.
