Reviews

  • Great Later Leadbelly

This album is by far the most refined of all of the Leadbelly catalog. Recorded circa 1940, the songs are polished and the recordings very good. The addition of the Golden Gate Gospel however muddies the album with songs that obscure the Leadbelly sound. In either case, it is still a must have for any record collection. Most of these songs define what we think of as the Blues.
  • The best quality Leadbelly on the market!

Better than any other LB compilation, you can really "hear" the genius and brilliance of the "King of the 12 String Guitar". Favorite tracks include: Leaving Blues, Easy Rider, and Don't You Love Your Daddy No More. The intro to Leaving Blues may be, imo, the best sound ever to come from a guitar.
