As a long-time junglist out of Philly & Baltimore, it warms my soul to hear Gridlok once again bringing the fire and passion to the drum and bass scene. These tracks hit the spot in every way, from the well-timed pacing to the memorable, deep melodies - Break the System is a seamlessly mixed masterpiece. Be sure to crank up the volume, because this guy knows how jungle is supposed to be listened to: loud and hard!

I was browsing through D&B in iTunes and ran across this, listened to a few of the samples and decided (in a slightly inebriated state) that I'd plunk down the twenty bucks for it -- seeing as I like Tech Itch, Dieselboy, Bad Company UK, etc. Downloaded it to my Apple TV and decided to give it a listen. I'm not sorry in the least. This mix is just like being at a party and listening to the headliner. Full-on party mix. I'm writing this as my ears are ringing from level that I chose to listen to it at. No track disappoints. When I thought I might be bored, and had my finger on the track forward button, something came up to suspend my impatience and lead me deeper down a wonderful rabbit hole. Granted the price of admission is high but the rewards were worth it. If you like your D&B with deep and evil basslines and a cacophony of sound -- give it a try -- you won't be let down. I absolutely loved the recap of Bottomfeeder (track 18)

This is first and foremost a GREAT drum and bass album, Gridlok brings all sorts of sounds with this album and they are all classic. To those turned off by the price tag take a second look at the track listing. It's 24.99 because it is two CDs worth of music. Awkward for those used to iTunes pricing but still worth every penny.
  • Way Overpriced
