I have always known this song as the "Friday song". I remember hearing it on the radio as a kid each and every friday! Gotta love it!

The only thing better than this album is seeing Jonathan perform these songs in concert. He still tours and puts on a great show.

On 95.1 in Danbury Ct. they still play Shanty every Friday at 5:00, and have been for as long as I can remember. It is always the ultimate way to start the weekend. While practically every song on this album is above average, you can get the album just for Shanty and be very happy that you did. It'll make you want to "put a good buzz on". Slainte

Bought it mostly for two songs, but front to back is a good, solid album. Probably requires more than 3 stars but not quite 4. 3.5.
  • Jonathan Edwards is one of a kind

This album is Jonathan's classic and sets the bar high for all of his songs. Everybody remembers "Sunshine" but all of the songs are great. Sometimes and Cold Snow live in my mind and are often visited. If you don't have this album, you are missing something special.

the first two sum it up pretty well, but let me just add that i've heard alot of the early 70's and Jonathan Edwards is one of the best

Even though I was born a decade after this album was released, and I've never heard one Jonathan Edwards song in my years of listening to 'Classic Rock' stations, this album stands up as plainly one of the greats. It saddens me when people know about Black Sabbath's First album, or The Beatles' Abbey Road, but they draw a total blank on this name and album. 'Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy' is also incredibly superb. The early 70s was also a time when 'Country-Rock' was incredibly popular and marketable, and Edwards has a tone to his voice which I think is organically 'Country-Rock', something bands like The Byrds and The Eagles had to strain and work to achieve. If you are actually reading this review, believe me when I saw there isn't one bad song on this album. Not many artists can say that they have entire album full of enjoyable songs, at least with a straight face.
