I am currently in the Spivey Hall Children's Choir and I believe that joining was the best choice of my life! I absolutely love making music at the hall and have learned so much from Dr. Shaw! This album really shows people what SHCC is made of!!! <3

I have to say, I am ashamed to have this rival thing going on. I am part of the Spivey Hall Children's Choir, and I have serious objections to any comparisons to us and the ICC. We sound different because we are different choirs. I think we all sound equally good in different ways. Everyone has unique tastes and preferences, so you may prefer one choir to another. That's okay! Just please don't say one of us is better than the other, because, honestly, it's all opinion. And yes, as a side note, we do sound better live than recorded, keep that in mind before you go bashing. It's kinda hurtful. If you want to state your opinion, please do so in a civilized manner. Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen. (If you're a member of tour choir and this is still 2008-2009, CHINA HERE WE COME!)
  • Is this what music is about?

Having grown up in the Indianapolis Children's Choir, I am dismayed to see its name and reputation being used as they have been here. Spivey Hall is a very good choir, and definitely among the top children's choirs I've heard. Technically, Spivey Hall is good, but when listening to it, it is clear that Henry Leck and whoever the director of Spivey Hall is have diferent ideals for choral sound, although one isn't necessarily better than the other. One of the most valuable lessons that I learned in ICC is that music isn't meant to be competitive, and it's not about who's better than others. Music is meant to bring people together, to unite them, and to spread joy... and definitely not meant to demean other musicians, especially those who are involved in music purely out of love for it -- not for any sort of financial gain.

My choir sang a lot of these songs and this choir sounds really good. I really love Homeland and Inscription of Hope.

I was in this choir for half of my life. First off, we are a lot better live. Everyone's comments are truly appreciated, I know. Even if you totally hate the c.d. Spivey Hall Children's Choir is not only one of the greatest choirs in the country, along with the wonderful ICC, but they are truly a family. ICC is also an absolutely amazing choir, whom I love. In my eight years in this choir, They helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. I dealt with the divorce of my parents, death of five of my family members in total, and much more. I owe so many thanks to SHCC, and Dr. Shaw, they pretty much saved me from myself. I love you SHCC, you are forever in my heart, and mind.

I am 12 years old and can appericiate this type of sining. And sometimes people do spell things wrong and making a rude remark about it makes you look even stupider! This article is supposed to be about this choir not your spelling needs!!! Way To Go choir!

to pianocp, i dont think there is a need to criticize the ICC or any other choir. every choir has a different and unique sound to it. Yes, the SHCC is very beautiful, but that does not make ICC any less gorgeous.
