This album has such a great feel to it. I was never much of a jazz fan, but after listening to Jesse Palter I've found myself wanting to hear more and more. She is a fresh young artist that I can't wait to hear more from.
  • Jesse Palter & her trio is destined for greatness!!!

The entire album is amazing from beginning to finish. The band sounds so cohesive and compliments Jesse's smooth vocal prowess. It is clear that Jesse proves herself as a musician first and foremost and can hang on the same level musically as her bandmates (which is a rareity amongst singers). Beautiful, unique and original arrangements, beautiful compositions by Jesse, masterful playing by Mike Jellick (who did genius co-production work with Jesse), Ben Williams (who has a great mix of technique and soul) and Nate Winn. Favorite tracks include: So Happy Together, One For My Baby, Zing! Went The Strings (her take on it rivals that of Judie Garland), Lovesick...who am I fooling? They are all great! A must buy for all jazz and jazz/pop fans.

Not just velvet but silk velvet with a radiance and opalescence of a well seasoned star! Incredible vocal range expressed with the discretion and verve of an artist of maturity far beyond Jesses' 21 years. Sultry and sophisticated. From standards to smart originals, expect much from this rising star of Motown.
  • How Jazz Should Be Done

In kind with Stacey Kent, Diana Krall and all the classics that came before, Jesse takes these roots, but makes them her own. This is how jazz should be done: keys, bass, drums, and soft, but articulate and full-toned vocals. Topped off with playful phrasing and rubato that knows when to stay in control, the only thing this CD is missing is a glass of wine and a book. I highly recommend it.

Jesse Palter is probably the biggest up and coming star out there. Shes got the looks and the voice to go with it. With a great band behind her, she is bound to end up on the top of The Billboard Charts. The originals Lovesick and Change of Heart are absolutly pure. Never seen anything like this girl before.
