I too wore out this entire album. Captain Fingers song was my favorite but I enjoyed the entire album. I can't agree that Isn't She Lovely shouldn't have made the album. It is absolutely one of my favorites. Anytime you can sing Stevie Wonder and be believable your good!

Its the same for me... I started listening to this lp right when it came out, like 30 yrs. ago, and played it until its was a scratch fest. Loved it, great players behind Lee. I think its his very best effort...

This recording inspired me many years ago when I was beginning my career as a musician in Los Angeles. The high caliber of musicianship Lee set with this CD is still worth aiming for. I hope you check out my CD "Smooth As Silk" and hear what I continue to strive for. Mark Carter

I bought this in highschool when it came out and almost wore it out. GREAT (almost legandary) list of studio players on this set. Yes, listening now, some tracks do sound dated. However, you have to give props to the musicianship. While Lee lives in the world of "smooth jazz" these days, this set pre-dates it. In my opinion, it's not as lazy as the smooth jazz sound that seems to permeate the airwaves these days. And to the other review, if you like Jeff Beck, this will be way too pop for you. Check out Mike Stern instead.
  • Fun early Ritenour

I loved this album in high school and college days on vinyl. This is Rit in his early career, and while some of it sounds a bit dated today, you have to appreciate his talent and effort here. It holds up better than the pop material on Rit 1 imo. Dolphin Dreams was always a favorite, along with the funky Space Glide. Sun Song is glorious. Album would have been better if "Isn't She Lovely" didn't make the album. This album sounds good, and as with all early Ritenour albums, has some fantastic musicians playing with him. Most of the folks working with him had a lot to do with much of the great pop and smooth Jazz for decades. A very nice album. Folks who like Jeff Beck might like this too (I'm not equating them, just making an observation).
