Mixed Reviews

I found myself enjoying most of this album. It’s not without its flaws but I also understand Kevin is leaning into more house/electronic. Which is fine by me. Mixed reviews are expected. Ppl are torn because they want the psychedelic TI. I applaud him taking the risk. Fun album in my opinion but not for everyone

This is an amazing album that sounds like John Lennon conjured. Buy it. Listen. “No Reply” was literally the title of a Beatles song. Kevin’s “No Reply” is the best song on this album.
As Trippy and Fantastic As Ever

I honestly don't get the negative reviews here. I think this is one of the best Tame Impala albums, and I've loved them all. Yes, it's heavier on the electronics and yes, there are some dance-y beats (neither of these things actually bother me, but apparently, others take issue with them). On the other hand, every track is great, the melodies are catchy and memorable, and the spacy psychedelic sound for which TI is famous is working at full throttle. I love this freakin' album!
Oooh. A big miss, this.

Tame Impala records have never been brilliant, but what was great about certain tracks made his sound and music distinctive enough to look forward to each album's gems. Couldn't find one here.
Not good :(

I pre-ordered this album and I really wish I hadn't. This feels like either he ran out of ideas, or was obligated to make an album and rushed to do it. Every song feels like filler. "Loser" is ok, but even that feels a bit uninspired with riffing off Beck "I'm a loser baby". I have tried to give this album a chance nearly 5 different times but I just skip every song. I will probably never listen to this album so I guess this was my additional $12 donation to Tame. At least his Orchid synth is pretty cool! :)
May we keep the songs if we buy them?

Are you sure you are happy with these tracks, Kevin? Because I would hate to purchase them only to have you pull the track off all devices like you did with the song Borderline. No notice, no reimbursement, just gone, because you didn’t love the bass on it. Are you sure these songs will still be on my phone a month from now if I buy them?
Incredible new sound for a new era

Long time Tame Impala fan and I’m so, so happy to get a new album and to hear the journey of Kevin Parker’s sonic evolution. This album has seriously got me going, from bobbing my head, to sitting introspectively in silence, to throwing it back all within the same 12 tracks. The grooves and the ear candy melodies you’d expect from Tame Impala now presented in a new dance/electronic sound that is unbelievably captivating and refreshing.
For any fans feeling adverse to this recent departure from his earlier works, my biggest piece of advice is to just keep listening. The same heart and soul that Tame Impala puts into all of his albums is more than potent in Deadbeat, but it may take a few listens for it to click with the genre switch.
Overall, incredible album, still wrapping my head around this masterpiece. AOTY for me personally, I’m going to Oblivion (peace)
