I went into this with low expectations. I didn't care for the previous release, and I was getting pretty tired of the meandering/moaning Yorke. But this one is much tighter, with actual melodies I can remember. I've already gone through it twice, and can't wait for a 3rd run. Nice job guys.
  • Not nearly as depressing as their first 2 albums. This is maybe their best album

Huge Radiohead fan... I think The Smile is almost as good, although different... They're very similar to Radiohead in many ways. Even if we haven't had a new Radiohead album in many years, to have 3 albums by the 2 leading members of Radiohead under "The Smile" is something I think we're all more than satisfied with. This album is maybe their best album yet, because although I liked their first 2 albums a lot, they're also depressing albums. Great music, but depressing songwriting. THIS album though is pretty upbeat!! Surprisingly so. Which makes it *perfect* for allowing The Smile to finally be played on shuffle with all the songs off their 3 albums. Now instead of it being sad song sad song sad song sad song etc... It's sad song sad song happy song sad song happy song sad song sad song happy song... Which is much better. I appreciate the variety in emotion. After all, Radiohead had plenty of upbeat songs among their many sad songs. We're certainly lucky to have 2 albums by this excellent band in the same year. It reminds me of the 1960s (even though I'm 39) when great bands like The Doors, The Beatles, and many others used to release 2 albums every single year! To be that prolific is almost unimaginable today. So to see The Smile actually doing it is pretty awesome and it also shows they're filled with musical ideas and inspiration. Definitely worth buying, as are their first 2 albums.

You know something is brilliant, when it feels effortless and the flow of it is unstoppable. Really great album.
  • Just getting better and better!

Apparently Thom Yorke and company are incapable of writing/creating any bad music. Another solid album!
