Saw Brandi live when she first came out and opened up for Jamie Cullum. From the first note, I knew she was an original. I prefer this album to the newer ones but it's great to see Brandi grow into such a confident & charismatic performer.

Great voice. But there are some tracks where she could stand to rein in the power of her vocals. "Happy" might be the best song I've heard in months. "Fall Apart Again" is another catchy, pop tune worth having. Proves yet again that the best tracks are not necessarily the most popular.

Brandi is incredible. Buy everything she has ever recorded, and see her play live ASAP.

Brandi's voice is a mix of many female singers we know, Bonnie Raitt, EmmyLou Harris, KD Lang, and even a little of Melissa's toughness. But her voice is definately unique. I could listen to her all day long. Glad I saw that Chevy commercial and Googled her!

She is one of the most amazing artists I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Her talent is so effortless that I get chills when I listen to her. I personally enjoy this album more than her second album, although I highly reccomend the song The Story. Either way....she will not disappoint.

I didn't listen to Brandi Carlile's music for a long time... I had listened to samples of some of her songs in music stores but I wasn't that impressed for some reason. But finally I put aside my doubts and took a chance on this album. Once I actually listened to the songs the whole way through a few times, I was a fan. I bought this a few days ago, and I've been listening to it constantly since. This is absolutely incredible music- she has a very listenable voice, and the melodies get imprinted on your mind. I was surprised that I ended up loving Carlile's music, since she leans a bit more towards the "rock" genre than my listening tastes do, but this is astoundingly good. My favorite songs are "Closer to You" and "Fall Apart Again."

was initially turned on to her song from grey's anatomy (the story - check it out, it's on a different album - utterly heartwrenching!) but when i saw her at the fillmore in NYC last year, i was COMPLETELY blown away. i bought both albums that they were selling outside and i cannot emphasize enough how much i love listening to both of them over and over. she sounds like indigo girls, bonnie raitt, kd lang, rosemary clooney all wrapped up into one phenomenal artist. the harmonies that she and her twins can belt out are nothing short of heavenly and as a true music fan, she was a diamond in the rough type of find. you won't regret buying this album - i know i don't.

How do all of the same old artists with semi-okay music get so much attention when there is a girl with talent like this out there? A voice as enchanting as KD Lang, I love it.
