The Boyboy Westcoast has brought a new addition of his musical library to the table with his 2nd studio album Anxiety and Depression. An album which offers a broad range of musical styles from the upbeat tracks of “Oh I Oh“ to “One Chance“ it delivers a nice reminiscing feel to 2005 when MySpace was popping to the saddened slow paced songs where he opens up about his battle with anxiety and depression depicted in the title name and in the songs “All night“ and “Take You Home“ . The Boyboy Westcoast talks about the struggles he suffers of liking a female and not getting the opportunity to open himself up to her an opportunity he wants to take throughout the project allowing simps and teenage kids just finding out about love to be able to tune in and feel connected. This project consists of multiple bland features from the likes of hip hop oldies Iamsu! to the slow paced singers with abnormally high pitched voices like Dave Albrego which all sound the same with a similar core writing subject in every song causing most if not all songs to sound repetitive. The Boyboy WestCoast in this album sounds as if he’s trying to revive that quick bite sound that Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign perfected in 2010 and is adding his own refined twist to it like in the songs “Just Like That“ and “Cake and Ice Cream“ which offers the same get to dancing feel we left behind in the early 2010s .. he offers a broad range of musical styles in this project from slow paced staring out the window songs to rich in beat club songs leaving no room to discriminate. Where this album really shines is in the diverse adlibs The Boyboy Westcoast provides with new sets of adlibs in every song allowing for multiple memes and fun laughs to occur by providing a large set of sound bit sounds to be applied for future use. There has been a couple okay songs where the production and vocals swing by smoothly but there has also been a lot of songs like “Venice Beach” and “I Feel You” where his vocal presence feels forced an energy unfortunately carried throughout the entire album not allowing the listeners to fully enjoy his music with a sad attempt of features that try tying the hook of every song back to the differentiated sounds of the verses given in every song. Final verdict i give this album a low 3.5 out of 10.
