This album is absolutely brilliant. It has slowly seeped into my life this past couple of weeks. Kyoto is a bop. Punisher has the best use of a vocoder I’ve ever heard. It lets Her haunting and beautiful voice take the stage, while adding profound texture. Savior Complex is super self aware and the production is stunning (as it is the entire record). Moon song is also a treasure. I Know the End is probably one of the best songs on the album. I don’t get surprised musically very often but this did that TWICE. Phoebe is a talented and promising artist. She has this way of making you understand that a behavior is toxic with out shaming it. She doesn’t outright encourage toxic behavior but she allows the listener to feel like it’s ok to make those mistakes and learn from them. I look forward to seeing where she goes from here.

  • From Pink Floyd to Phoebe Bridgers???

I’ve been a long time fan of rock music dating back to the late 70’s when I was a young little brat in grade school....(Pink Floyd, The Who, Led Zeppelin in particular) as well as the late 80’s and early 90’s (Pearl Jam, Metallica, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails just to name a few).... and now I am being asked to rate an album by Phoebe Bridgers??? With that said, this album somehow manages to stand out. The music is strong, the lyrics are haunting, clever, and almost hypnotizing (listeners beware)....at which Phoebe’s vocals are honest and within herself; and quite frankly, very appealing. I just saw her performance on SNL the other night....Pete Townshend would have been proud. Brace yourselves America....a new superstar is on the verge of evolving before everyone’s eyes. BMT.

Phoebe was always someone I heard about but never actually listened to... until a month ago. She is such an amazing lyricist, singer, performer, and overall such a sweet person. She deserves a Grammy and I'm hoping she gets at least 1/4 she’s up for. Thank you my fellow pug lover for getting me through these crazy times, you’re the best! :)
