McLaughlin Returns With An Album Of Unprecedented Beauty And Harmonic Sophistication

Like most of the reviewers here, I have been a McLaughlin fan for as long as I can remember, over 40 years at least.
This new version of Shakti, Shakti 3.0, is as good as it gets from the Maestro and should be listened to over and over again in order to bask in its musical bliss.
For the “reviewers” leaving one and two star reviews I would suggest you stop listening to music with your eyes and use your ears instead. Some of the lame comments I have seen here are stupid beyond belief. There are many here that were expecting a rehash of the 70’s era Shakti or even the Remember Shakti period... Well guess what, this is not that and thank God. Imagine the audacity of the Maestro to try and break new harmonic ground by creating something new and just as relevant as the original Shakti and Remember Shakti.
I urge all of you to take a serious listen to the chord changes going on underneath the beautiful vocal melodies contained herein. There is some serious harmonic material happening here and just because it is being triggered and played via a guitar synth does not matter, it is the Maestro who composed and performs this material.
Also, the comments about no guitar solos are way off.... there’s plenty of soloing here by McLaughlin, again, listen with your ears and not your eyes and you will “hear” it.
Thank you John for taking the time to create this “handful of beauty” of harmonic and melodic soul reaching music. Some of us are actually able to appreciate it.
Peace.
