DEFINITELY DISAPPOINTING

First, I am a Portman score admirerer. But, ghis film score is not up to Rachel Portman's usual efforts. This is the first soundtrack from Portman that actually sounds like a soundtrack rather than a film score. It is predictable, repetitive with simplistic thematic material and, ultimately, just boring. I acknowledge that this film is about 'a dog', but even scores written for 'dog films' don't have to sound like children's cartoon music. I can only hope that Ms. Portman recaptures all of the excellence, skill and beauty of her previous scores.
