I own the three other recordings of Glass' first violin concerto (Kremer, McDuffie, and Anthony) and while all of them will remain special to me, this one with Capucon and New music authority Davies knocked my socks off. The Bernstein is a revelation. I looove this recording.

This review is about the Glass concerto only. The movements are ample which highlights the orchestration. The role of percussion is emphasized. The balance soloist/orchestra is subtle, outlining the support of woods. The soloist sound is rich, sensual, thoughtful in the repetitive structure, especially in the second movement. There is as much musicality in the violin sound than its rythmes and tunes. I really enjoyed this interpretation.
