Carmen has a profound Jazz sensibility. Always taseful and always surrounded by solid performers in the tradition of Betty Carter and Carmen McCrae. This outing is consistently good. Not a day goes by without me some Carmen Lundy. If you are not familiar with her music you are being cheated out of fine art. My favorite is the "Island , the Sea and You"

I was introduced to Carmen's music by a friend during one of her shows at the Blue Note in NYC back in 2009. Ever since then, I have followed her career and records and I am never disappointed!
This CD is right in line with all of the others, excellent. Great voice, great songs, great players. I highly reccommend.

I saw Carmen live at Dizzy’s in NYC, she put on a beautiful show! This album brought me right back to that experience, it’s wonderful!

Yet another stunning album of originals from this criminally overlooked artist. Code Noir should finally establish Carmen Lundy as one of our great living legends in Jazz. Every track is impeccable, notably the hypnotic I Keep Falling, the truly timely Black And Blues, the swinging Afterglow, the positive message of Whatever It Takes. And once again, Carmen Lundy puts together an outstanding band - Patrice Rushen on piano, Ben Williams on bass, Kendrick Scott on drums and Jeff Parker on guitar. Carmen herself contributes all keyboards, acoustic guitar and background vocals. I can't get enough of this one!
