Sylvester with Dudamel

Joyous Vienna filled with life and the inescapable glee of Gustavo. This concert is virtually impossible to attend, tickets are sold by lottery and at this January 9 writing, there are over 100,000 applications. If you are not among the fortunate few to attend live or watch on ORF, this recording is the best substitute by far: Maestro Dudamel and the Vienna Philharmonic are perfect together. Listen for clapping to moderate in the traditional final Radetsky march, when Dudamel turns and conducts the audience. Simply wonderful. A must have addition to any library of classical music, and not just because it was for New Years but for all time.
