Matt Shell has delivered again! This is a beautifully eclectic, emotive, and bold record. With each album, Matt solidifies himself as a producer with a truly singular vision. The talent he collaborates with is top notch; together they achieve wonderfully lush and elegant arrangements. My personal favorites are “Thoughts of Her”, “Prayer for World Peace”, and “Not My Type At All.” This is a record worth your time.

In a nutshell, to me this is sheer musicality that is not bound by genres, instrumentation, preconceptions or clichés. Whatever occurs at any given time serves the music, and it happens in such a tasteful fashion that the music becomes a perfect balance of ear candy with the right amount of complexity, and still is catchy. Expertly produced, it’s music that wants to be heard and also wants to convey a message of musicality.

Loving the varied landscape in these arrangements. It feels fresh all the way through. Highlights include the flourish of the piano along with compelling horizontal string lines in INTRO, playful synths and virtuoso violin in BOSS MUSIC, buoyant Bobby McFerrin-esque vocals in THOUGHTS OF HER, a fun Jamiroquai vibe in DANCE SHAKE, and gorgeous soloists in MY BABY and NOT MY TYPE AT ALL. Such a great palette of sounds that fit together so well. I love this album!
