  • Greg Lake Live 1981 is Gold!

In short, This and his solo debut album are the definite hidden gems deep within the ELP back catalog worth listening esp. for major fans of the Late Great Greg Lake like myself. Also, do ingnore the last track of this live album as it realy sounds so very terrible. Also, I suggest to look for his 2nd and untimely last real solo album: Manoeuvers as it got some very good songs on it too. On than that, listen only tracks 1 thru 10 only as that is the indeed real concert from start to finish. RIP and Always remember Greg Lake (1947-2016) and Gary Moore (1952-2011), two of countless great talents whom gone far too soon.

Yeah, Greg Lake is legend, etc...but I'll bet he doesn't see any royalties from "Purple Pyramid Recoreds" [always bad when they misspell "records"]. Sample the last cut, "C'est La Vie" which sounds like it was recorded by some guy out in the audience. The Emerson & Lake live album [also on iTunes] is a better deal.

Greg Lake’s voice is instantly recognizable. All great artists are defined by style. This collection features some of the best works by one of the greatest rock tenors ever. Lake’s vocal style used to remind me of a hybrid between Lennon and Pavarotti, with the husky bravado of country western vocalists. I’ve seen his voice bring people to tears. Lake brings art to music.
