It is an official bootleg

This is the official release of a bootleg known as “Plugged Into Denver 1979”. Is the sound quality perfect? No, not at all and frankly, not even close. But if one keeps in mind that this wasn’t recorded with a full mobile recording rig (like Deep Purple’s “Made in Japan”, for instance), there are some great performances here. I consider Rainbow’s “Down to Earth” to be an under-rated album, even among Blackmore fans. And with this release, you get a chance (with some effort on the listener’s part) to hear what Bonnet-era Rainbow sounded like for this one album and tour. This album mixed some of Rainbow’s penchant for stretching out songs beyond the 10-minute mark along with shorter, more radio-friendly songs like “All Night Long” and “Since You Been Gone”.
If you’re a Blackmore fan, listen to samples here and then decide if you want to purchase. My rating is for the performances and not for the audio quality. I purchased in hopes that other hard-to-find gems from Rainbow will get released.
