What happened !!! Such a beautiful singer she totally fell off the wagon in her latest project! She needs to get back to the "Old Times " where it may her what she was, I wouldn't even play this album for elevator music . Feel bad for her don't even know what kind of music crowd she is trying to reach with this album.

Donna’s collaboration with the members of the Bad Plus is one of the best vocal albums I’ve heard in years and really shows what a fine musician she is. This is Joni Mitchell territory in terms of phrasing, musicality and maturity, yet completely unique a well. Donna has really shown herself to be a high class artist here and this could be the best Bad Plus on record - they play with exquisite taste and maturity. A gorgeous album.

To start: I am a jazz fan who had never heard of Donna Lewis before this album. As a jazz album, it’s phenomenal, but to people expecting pop, I can imagine it’s quite a shock. The musicianship of The Bad Plus (the trio that accompanies her) is nothing short of remarkable. It’s different for Bad Plus in that they did not write the arrangements, but rather played the charts from David Torn. The arrangements alone are enough to warrant listening to the entire thing.
Although I like the whole album, some particularly great tracks are covers of David Bowie’s “Bring Me the Disco King,” Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” (you almost don’t recognize it as a cover), and Chocolate Genius’s “My Mom.”
This is one of the few albums I find myself going back to again and again.

The musicianship, engineering and producer of this project did a fine job. Those who cannot listen to music critically should not leave comments, in my opinion. Jazz isn’t for everyone, especially the uneducated. Those with, “Pop” ears should limit themselves to Pop music and just be happy. It’s always a brave endeavor to take known songs and make them your own - crossing genres is even tougher - try it sometime.
