Saw them live last night in Seattle, playing some of the songs on this new album. I haven’t heard anything this unique from guitarists in a long time. They are super tight as a duo, right in the moment with each other, and with an entirely new approach. Virtually no “comping” in traditional strumming sense. It’s all about counterpoint and implied harmonies. Quite remarkable and elaborate compositions, with ample room for spot on improvisation. I agree with another reviewer that there are shades of early Larry Coryell here, plus lot of Jim Hall in terms of clean tone and clear lines.
