Loved Vows Much Better

This album was wayyy too textured with instruments, weird sounds, and voice direction. I only like about 4 songs on this album; whereas on Vows there were only maybe 4 I didn’t care for. I hope Primal Heart is much better. So far it seems like it. Kimbra is still my Queen and favorite female artist of all. I hate that the US doesn’t know her that well.
Hard at first

Being a fan of Vows it took me several months to finally appreciate this album. Madhouse was really the only thing that stood out for me. I let it play all the way through one day and started picking up bits of the Kimbra I love in it. Now this my favorite album by her. Definitely not a generic R&B album that it comes off as at first.

I’m a big fan of her first album, Vows. Settle Down, Cameo Lover, Two Way Street, Old Flame, Good Intent, Plain Gold Ring are songs of quality not seen on The Golden Echo.
The jazz sound found in Vows is gone. The complex melodies and builds are gone.
It seems like Warner Brothers signed her and took away everything that made Kimbra unique, put her in a studio with their producers, and put out another formula R&B album with computer-generated drum machines and funk sounds we hear on a million records.
My guess is Warner Brothers will make some music videos of her in little clothing and she’ll be the New Zealand Beyonce or JLo. That’s a shame. Vows shows depth and huge talent.
