Lustful Lullaby

Once again, Matthew Mayfield has delivered. This time, a song that is "hauntingly beautiful" in a way that will achingly linger long after the last notes are over. It is rare in this world to find such consistent and committed talent combined w/ quality. Yet, this is the case with every piece of music this perfectionist puts out. It echoes and resounds in that deep, real, honest, raw, and pure place Mayfield's music always seems to come from, maybe even deeper than before. His soul is seemingly infinite and intimate. But, this is what the music world has come to expect and respect from this man... A complex duality. He's a rockstar and a poet... Bipolar at it's best. And, this song, like his others, is relevant but also reminiscent of some of the great artist to come before him. Yet, it is all "his" when he signs it with that raspy soulful voice as unique as a fingerprint. This song has the power to lull and ignite... A "lustful lullaby". It radiates heat and need that resonates in the lyrics and the erotic rhythm that drives one to distraction. This song, in simple, is "Need Personified". And, as anyone who has ever heard Mayfield's music eventually realizes: you want it, you buy it, you listen to it, and (eventually) you come to need it. This song seems to validate and elucidate that need. This song is not optional. It is a must. Buy it! You know you want it. I argue you NEED it ;)
