An ambitious album tackiing love, grief, abuse and Madonna's multi-faceted relationship with the Catholic church. It was very controversial (even more than Erotica), but totally worth it and way ahead of its time. I'll confess that I didn't fully get her Like A Prayer video until the 2020s. Interestingly I found out that Prince collaborated on "Like a Prayer" as well as "Love Song." Surprising....yet also not (those guitar licks don't lie). Whether you want something complex like "Oh Father" or the very resigned "Til Death Do Us Part" or the simpler joys of "Keep It Together" or "Cherish", you'll find something meaningful here.
