Psychobuildings is an electronic dance rock collective (think Erasure meets The Cure meets Talking Heads) formed in a painting studio in NYC's hip Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. The group started as a recording project founded by singer, dancer and visual artist Peter LaBier and morphed into a captivating, dance infused live show with a rotating cast of NYC's best musicians. Fronted by LaBier, Psychobuildings appears in various guises, will it be a 3 piece? 4 piece? a solo show? Regular members of the collective include Samer Ghadry (Matthew Dear), Juan Pieczanski (Small Black), Peter Schuette (Silk Flowers), Jeff Curtin (Class Actress), and Emily Panic (Phenomenal Handclap Band).
Psychobuildings leads elements of pop, new wave, dance, post punk and electronica into a new world filled with lyrical bright lights, and dark corners. You may have heard them doubling down on the sexy in a recent Victoria's Secret campaign for the new Very Sexy Bandeau bathing suit.
This album presents a more refined, more mainstream Psychobuildings. Nodding in many musical directions from house/dance, to indie pop to punk, this album's strength is it's catchiness and great lyric.
