It seems strange reviewing an album from 2009 in 2013, But with this being re-issued, it’s a no-brainer.
DTA marked the beginning for Julien-K, and it sounds like you want a debut album to sound-raw, passionate, full of mad ideas, ready to rule the world…with the ego to go with it.
Standout tracks include Death to Analog, Stranded, Maestro, and the perfect pop song, Someday Soon. This rereleased version also includes the emotional B-side Dreamland, and Killing Fields, a track that was previously exclusive to the European version of DTA.
Maybe you’re a fan of JK’s second album, We’re Here With You and you want to see where it all started. Maybe you’re just sick of everything you hear sounding the same, and you know there’s a sound out there with some creativity and passion. Just pick this up, and lose yourself in debauchery.
