SOOOO. This CD is awesome. I am listening to the various types of music featured, all incredibly diverse but still fed through an incredible filter. One piece that's a must have "Drumsound Rises". The climax of this piece made me get GOOSEBUMPS!!! I also strongly suggest "Heart's Reflection" because it sounds like a new age choir song harmonically, but not without incredible melodies, which is basically void in most new compositions with harmonically complicated music. You just gotta listen to this stuff!

If you buy one album of new choral music this year, make it this one! Elder's music is both approachable and artistic. My personal favorites on the disc are the "Three Themes of Life and Love" and "Elegy", but I recommend buying the whole thing. The melodies that Elder writes are relatable, while still imaginative and fresh and the emotional arc of the album ranges from whimsical to passionate, to contemplative. Whether you're looking for new music to program for your choir, you've heard Elder's works in concert or performed them, or you are just an appreciator of the choral arts I guarantee you will find something on this album that you enjoy. The Westminster Choir is wonderful as always, offering a fantastic range of vocal color and depth to the musical phrases. Definitely worth the 9.99!
