If the Cure were going to sell out, they could've at least gotten three dollars and fifty cents for this. James hates cheap music. They should've decided to make some good music instead of this crappy music.

Though it's the Cure's second release, I see Seventeen Seconds as their true first album. Sparse production creates an icy sheen of gloom, yet stops short of the cliff. Really good record.

What a great listen after all these years. This album is The Cure stripped down to their most crystal-clear vision of pop music.

Although Three Imaginary Boys launched the epic career of The Cure, it is with Seventeen Seconds that the future sound of the band begins to take hold. The addition of Simon on bass and Dempsey on the keyboards fills out the sound creating a dark sound that heretofore had not been heard. It's groovy, dancable, and of course bring us "A Forest" where we get a taste of the just how good Robert Smith is on the guitar. The only thing that rivals this song is hearing it live. Given that the boys were only in their early 20's at the time, this album gives us a taste of the genius to come.

Seventeen Seconds not only is my favorite Cure album, it is one of my personal favorite albums of everything I've come across. I can't quite describe how it makes me feel, it's a mysterious and ominous journey yet satisfies the mind. This is an album I advise you to turn out the lights, lay in your bed and just let your imagination flow to the music. A Forest is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard, another stand out track for me is At Night, I recommend them all though as they flow together well as a whole.
