Very down-beat, instills a very reflective attitude in the listener. If I could, I would give this album six stars out of five. You will not be disappointed by this album. Other suggestions for material that is similar in style, King Kooba and J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science.

I totally disagree with fabled! This is a great album. Yes it is different from their earlier stuff, but do we really want to keep hearing the same thing? Variety is the spice of life and this is deffinatly spicey! There is a good range of sound here and I personally enjoy the vocals quite a bit. I say its worth every penny, but hey make your own decisions!

Tosca's J.A.C. includes songs written in French, German and English, which is refreshing - gives the listener a brief sense of connection with the world on the other side of the big pond. The music is quirky, specifically in terms of it's mix of synthesizer and instrument sounds, as well as the voices of singers who, in one piece for example, speak the word "okay" several times with a German accent which is interesting because the {English} word is then "defamiliarized." Overall, the music is relaxing and also somewhat mysterious, in the way that entering a semi-lit cave is mysterious - you can see/hear/anticipate some of what's coming next but not everything (so there is always an element of surprise). As a writer and artist, I found J.A.C. to be the perfect "background" accompaniment to creative endeavors.

Yes, I am part Austrian and so is Tosca. The reason I give this four stars is because some songs don't have much to them. But the first three are great, going from a cool bassline and drum set to French Jazz to a dancy, yet mellow song. "Damentag" gets REALLY funky when you get into the song. So just download those four. Or whatever you want. It's cool
  • Tosca gets the vocal disease.

I liked Tosca's earlier albums and especially the Dehli 9 double album. Great concept. Unfortunately Tosca has fallen prey to the disease many electronica acts come down with. They feel the need to add vocals to their tracks, I suppose in hopes of getting a hit single, but the vocals always suck and ruin the otherwise good tracks. On their previous efforts they had vocal snippets and samples, eventually leading up to a few songs with full vocals on the last album but now virtually every song has a full vocal track. Annoying and not worth owning.
