  • THE REAL DEAL!

I’ve been watching this guy’s progress the last couple of years and he’s got the goods.I decided to buy this iTunes session over the Blak and Blu album because I didn’t like the R&B stuff on that album..a little too funky for me.This iTunes album is very good even though it’s not as polished as his studio album. And that’s a back handed bonus because it’s a raw, live sound…….the real deal.I can’t wait to catch Gary Clark Jr live.

Yes! He's been on the road for a few years and I hope this is the last live album for a while. I just preordered his new album. In the meantime I will sit back, smoke a fatty and listen to the boy wonder. I saw him twice live. Stage bruises on my 54 year old chest.
  • Great songs, but...

...the songs were pretty poorly recorded. You can hear the little picking "tings" from Clark's guitar playing. Most people probably won't notice, but as a guitar player myself who has recorded, that noise is just annoying to hear. It shows inexperience by the producer. It's okay to hear it from an acoustic guitar or on YouTube videos, but since it's electric and on an album, you gotta clean it up. Unfortunate.

Gary's parents live 3 houses down the street from my family. I must say he has accomplished a lot, and the album sounds great.
  • Right direction...

This is the way to go. I respect his idea of trying different things on Blak and Blu, but it didn't work. He's at his best playing the blues. If he keeps with this direction, he's easily the future of the blues. I hope his next album continues down this road!

I can't tell you Mr. Clark how long it's been since i've enjoyed any NEW music . What you have is precious and rare. My family turned me on to your music while visiting them in Philly. I'll be forever grateful. I've lived the lyrics in Bright Lights; but it's the music always that speaks and speak it does!!! Your guitar work is....I don't have the words; not since Duane Allman has a guitarist made me feel as you do. Thank You

It's a shame radio stations across America can't find a way to program music like this. Real, raw, authentic. This is a brilliant artist and everyone should tell anyone and everyone they know who loves music about Gary Clark Jr.

So happy that the producers of this album let Gary's raw sound shine through. I was very disappointed by Warner Bros overproduced and empty sound on Gary's Blak and Blu album. Gary is a Rock Star, not a Pop Star and I'm glad someone was able to capture that on recorded tracks. This is a must have album for all Gary Clark Jr fans, and for all fans of great rock and blues.
