Following the success of Ceremony of Carols, Etherea Vocal Ensemble's stunning debut album, Delos lost no time in producing their second effort. Containing several world premiere performances, this album is an enchanting mix of mostly uncommon works for female choir by Holst, Beach, Rheinberger, Mendelssohn and Rossini. While all of these works are standouts among the limited female choir rep, Holst's third group of Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda and the Two Eastern Pictures are particularly exotic, and ripe for rediscovery.

Lovely blended harmony, crisp vocal renderings with an ethereal timeless quality. My favorite though is Ms. Coultier's version of Prokofiev on track 7. The change of mood is startling and provocative. It has an authentic non-cherubic angelic quality resembling the struggle and exile of the dark angels from heaven and their fall to the underworld.

This has got to be my favorite choral release in a VERY long time. Absolutely STUNNING!

Truly one of the most fascinating, breathtaking, and transforming choral albums I have heard in years! Intonation is spot on, accompaniment precise and not overshadowing, and the biggest plus is the recording quality is outstanding. Such a gift Etherea have given the world!

Other that the extremely superb vocal work on this CD, the harpist Grace Coultier truly shines as a musician and companion to the group, exhibiting her own strength and contribution to the "out of this world" experience you will have listening to this heartfelt album. To all, please enjoy!
