Andsnes is a better pianist than he is a conductor. The stripped down orchestra lets him geting away with this. His playing is a little too fast and trite for my taste. Nice, light touch, but missing some depth. Then again it's early Beethoven and he often imitated lesser composers like Mozart and Haydn so it's understandable. Still it's an interesing experiment. Can't say he'd be able to pull it off on #4 and 5, the era when Beethoven started to write real music.-Bz
