It's hard to put into words why i am a fan of Walk the Moon. They're not really my typical kind of music. I tend to avoid their peers at best and flat out hate bands like them at worst. I don't really get down with the whole synth/fake instrument bands, but with WTM enough real talent comes through the cheap and poor excuses for instruments. Most bands with this level of talent don't need to dress up their music with synths, but WTM does and it is one of the rare examples of it working. The most important things that keep me coming back are the genuinely good vocals and the catchy/energetic tunes. You can't help but get into some of these songs and you find them still in your head later in the day. There's a hint of an 80's vibe and a Patrick Stump influence that i can't help but enjoy. Stilll, all of the songs on this album land in the mediocre-to-pretty good range of 2 to 4 stars, but the average song on here is still just a weak 3 star song. If you asked me what the average song was like on this album i would say "aggressively just ok." Many of the songs are pretty forgettable until the chorus hits and they tend to repeat the main parts of the chorus ad-infinitum. Despite all of this, though, all of the songs are good enought that i can't justify throwing them away - except for Lions since it's just a filler track. The two best songs are Shiver and Tightrope and come in at 4 stars. There's also five 3 star songs, three 2 star songs and the one throwaway in Lions.
