Just went to a concert with The Fretless tonight. WOW! Loved the fact that their music incorporated classic Scottish/Celtic, but also included a more modern approach to that music. Great in concert, and their recording are even better, if that is possible. Don't miss this!!

The music of The Fretless is a joy to listen to. The musicians are extremely talented and clearly love their medium, (and it shows!) The enthusiasm they bring to their music shines through in tracks which are clever, beautiful, wistful and toe-tapping good fun.

I saw this band at the New World Festival in Vermont. They were great live, so I decided to check out this recording. Sometimes recordings don't live up live performances, not so in this case. The performance is superb . Two songs have excellent vocal tracks which make a nice break from the instrumentals. The sound is richer than usual Irish fare as there is a cello/viola involved. The music pacing is generally spirited and up-beat.
Highly recommended.
