Dusted Off His Pipes...

Bobby Womack dusted off his pipes and let loose with some soulful preaching. His vocal chops and soul have always been able to cut through the production of the moment, be it string laden crossover soul, or disco. In ten years time 'The Bravest Man in the Universe' will still stand up there with the rest of Womack's best.
You people giving bad reviews......

This album examplifies what's wrong with most soul music in the last 5+ yrs. Electronic beats, fingers snaps and quirky rhythms. Womack is a fabulous guitarist and has a unique voice. Why not pair him with real musicians and let him make great soul music. This attempt to modernize his sound is a failure!
Why change the original cover ?

This is nothing short of a monumental album.... Bobby continues to amaze... Through every up and down this man has endured including his recent bout with cancer... The man creates one of his best.... Thank you Bobby Womack

I first listened to this album on NPR Music and got hooked. My favorite track is "Love is Gonna Lift You Up," but I find that all the tracks have engaging rhythms and arrangements. Interesting that the reviews tend to be so polarized. I find the same reaction at my house. I love it; my wife, not so much.
