The Second Act…..

This lp stands as the first straight ahead jazz album i’ve ever purchased. Not a bad song on here, this album captures Janis at her vocal peak, “Trouble Man” is a rocking cover of the Marvin Gaye classic, “Black Coffee” is an exercise in controlling a full voice reading, “From Vienna With Love” is a searing ballad, “Rhythm In My Nursery Rhymes” is humorous and she giggles at the end. My only complaint is the cd has that typical analog transfer to digital medium as all the cd’s manufactured in the early 80’s have and the sound is small and pinched. going on thirty years old this cd should be remastered as it should be regarded a jazz classic, it’s essential for any Janis Siegel fan to own this, in this present configuration the vinyl has the best sound quality.
