Casey Shea's newest album is perfect road trip music and a great collection of songs for days when you need something to cheer you up. Do yourself a favor and buy this album. (If you need one song to convince you to get the whole album, definitely get "It Is What It Is".)
"In Your Head," "Jennifer," and "Can't Get Enough" are solid rock-out tracks. "Let It Slide" and "It Is What It Is" are simultaneously dark and mellow. "Chelsea" is an unabashedly silly appeal to Chelsea Clinton's affections, yet it is still a catchy and well-constructed song. "No Son of Ours" and "I Don't Know Why" have a groove, an almost oldies vibe.
In my opinion, "Battery" is the only weak track on the album as far as writing goes, but it's still infused with the energy that carries all of Casey Shea's work to a higher level.
If you're a fan of musicians who can smoothly blend genres and still maintain their own voice, this is the album and artist for you! Casey Shea is great live, too!
