In a career spanning over 35 years, with the release of his latest CD, “Deep Theta” Steven Halpern proves that he is not only still in the game but is “in it to win it” as evidenced by its debut on the Billboard new age chart at number 9 with a bullet. This is no small achievement in that it is the first album of it’s kind to place in the top ten of the prestigious Billboard chart. The subtitle “High Coherence Soundscapes for Meditation and Healing,” alludes to the fact that the focus of the music is to help entrain the brain waves of the listener into the ‘theta zone’, which is the second slowest wave pattern and is characterized by deep and blissful relaxation that nurtures the heart and soul. Utilizing his trademarked Aural-Sync technology, the music is further enhanced with subtle sound waves in the theta range, which ranges from 4 to 7 cycles per second. While some may find this fascinating and for others it may be a bit on the esoteric side, be assured that “Deep Theta” can be enjoyed purely as a recording of exquisitely beautiful music, without needing to focus on the intention behind it. Over the years, Steven has explored various musical elements including up-tempo rhythms, world music, chant, and much more. However, “Deep Theta” is the classic dreamy sound that many people have come to associate with him – often referred to as the “Halpern effect.” One of the distinguishing features of Steven’s music is the way non-linear time, space, and silence, are integral parts of the music. As a listener, this kind of music makes it easier to get into the timeless present moment. This is some of the best music for meditation that I’ve experienced in a long time.
