I was not aware of this album till I saw America in concert a few months ago, and I am so thankful I discovered it. I recognized the majority of the the songs, but many were new to me. All I can say is that I absolutely fell in love with the album after listening to it. I was most surprised by the songs that I was not familiar with. A true gem of an album! If you are an America fan, you must get this album! If you are a music fan, you must get this album! You will not be disappointed. If only it got the airplay and recognition it deserved!
Why?

Yes, the harmonies are there. Seriously though, every song is better by the original musicians, so why buy? You can do better with the originals.
perfect as always

When America sings "Woodstock" live in concert, you're absolutely in love!!
I loved the song before I knew they sang it, but you appreciate it even more after seeing it live.
Cool to see America sing all these great songs by other artists!

Been a huge fan since right before their second wave of popularity with "View From The Ground". One of the most beautiful songs I believe they've ever done was Amber Cascades right before Dan left - very underrated. I actually love every selection on this album and Dewey sounds just as he did 40 years ago - maybe better - awesome. But am I the only one that doesn't hear something just a little off with Gerry's voice recently. We've all gotten older but there seems to be a "tin-iness" quality to his voice that just grates on me with some of the songs. No doubt he's always been a tenor - and a high one at that - but it's almost become a comical quality to how his voice sounds. It seeps into some songs more than others. If I was for certain that it wasn't his voice I'd say there was a problem recording his vocals - sped up like the Chipmunks (and I believe I saw something that he was actually the singing voice for Alvin recently). Still love it enough to download it though. Not sure where people are questioning the song selection for a cover album - it's tremendous. I don't typically like cover albums either but I'll make an exception for this one.
Quick follow-up: just listened to Holiday Harmony which was only a year before "Back Pages" and Gerry's voice sounds perfect. Am I losing my mind????

Just saw them on Maui...better than ever...tight as heck too....the youngest guy in the band has been there 12 years! Every tune from Back Pages was stellar......get this...also Mahalo to America...one of the few bands who play Maui on a somewhat regular basis...:)
Awesome!

Great cd! Any of you America fans best buy this album. Gerry and Dewey pull it off again. Sad that Dan is no longer with us, but his music is here in his remembrance.
They could sing the news

I love the songs they chose and I'm thrilled with the quality of the recordings. To all those people out there that are so offended, don't buy it and move on.
These guys could sing the weather and I'd love it.
Like their 70"s greatest hits better...

Although I enjoy the feel of America I cannot help but LOVE the classic hits like "Horse with no name" it is just my personal preference. Music is not ugly by the way (babyevelyn) it is more what the person has to say and how they choose to express themselves.
