For those complaining about nothing new, I'd like to point out that they did two covers (other than Simple Man) on their second CD. The first was Foo Fighters, the second Beatles. And other than that, most of the songs on the second CD have never been released acoustic. So yeah, the first isn't anything special if you're no big fan, but the acoustic concert is really good.

If anything, this should show everyone how legitamit that this band is when it comes to talent. When they sound about as close as you can get to a production recording live, then you know they are as good as advertised. Those bands that have to auto-tune their voice so they don't sound like crap can't hold a flame to bands like Shinedown. There is just no competition. People may say that they released this live album to squeeze every drop of money out of their past albums. They might be right, but two things... first it proves to everyone how good they are live, because some people don't like bands that only sound good in production they want proof that they are good before they really commit and second some fans don't like produced albums, they like the raw sound from a band and the roar of the crowd.

First off let me say that in general I am a pretty big fan of Shinedown, and saw them live with Seether about 6 years ago. Loved them live, and while Brent's voice obviously doesn't sound as polished live as it does on studio albums, it does sound pretty amazing live. As for this, I would give the acoustic album 5 stars, and the electric 1 star (averaged out to my 3 star rating.) I found the acoustic versions of the songs to be a really refreshing take on a bunch of songs I've heard a hundred times in their studio versions. While listening to the songs I really felt that sort of intimate setting that the best acoustic performances give you. Also, I found the Foo Fighters cover to be both a surprising and great addition. With the electric concert, though it just felt way to overproduced in the studio, like I wasn't even really listening to a concert. What bothered me the most was "I Dare You," in which they actually took the studio recording of the chorus from the "Us and Them" album and used it instead of however Brent sang the chorus at that concert. So obviously my 1 star rating for the electric album is more about that than the songs themselves; I just wish that it could have felt more like a real concert.
