Reviews

  • Always a pleasure to listen to

I must admit, that I think the ads belong. Its not like the Forgotten Films just decided to throw a commercial at the beginning of the show. This is how they were originally broadcasted. Its no different than the Petri Wines ads on Sherlock Holmes; it's part of the shows. I am very glad to have 50 episodes in one album.

Abbott an Costello will always be the greatest comedy team. I love that they're the original recordings with the camel commercials it reminds you of a time before political correctness destroyed us.
  • Fantastic material and a great collection!

Fantastic material and a great collection! I have to disagree with the previous review who said we could do without the intros and ads. I think having the original intros, ads, promos, etc. is very cool and helps to create the feeling of actually listening to the radio back in those days and actually hearing Abbott & Costello broadcasting live over the airwaves. So I would say those are an essential part of this collection. I enjoy hearing the Camel Cigarette ads, not because I am a smoker or have ever been a smoker, and not because I love advertisements (which I certainly don't), but because that's just the WAY IT WAS back in those times! I like getting the full experience and complete feeling of going back in time and turning on the radio to hear Abbott & Costello! Camel Cigarettes did in fact sponsor many of those shows, and they were constantly mentioned, their commercials were run frequently, and they were one of the most popular cigarettes at the time. Of course, in those days the health risks of cigarettes were either not known or were greatly downplayed, and smoking was almost as common and acceptable as eating and drinking. Regardless of whether or not you are a fan of the ads and intros, this is a great collection of comedy material by the greatest comedy team in history... Abbott & Costello!

we just want the abbott and costello recordings. Not the frigging Camel Ciggerete ad in front of it!
