I was searching iTunes for the Mozart clarinet concerto; saw all the 3rd rate performances, then finally found this collection with the clarinet concerto buried along with several other Mozart performances.
This is the 1963 performance with Szell/Cleveland featuring the late long-time principal clarinetist Robert Marcellus.
THIS IS THE GOLD STANDARD PERFORMANCE of this stunning late work of Mozart; he being newly in love with the instrument having been introduced to it by friend Anton Stadler.
Ok, a bit pricey as part of a collection, but a ridiculous bargain considering it contains definitive performances of the Jupiter Symphony, 40th Symphony, as well as an early divertimento - Myron Bloom's horn playing will blow you away! Also super performance of less well known charming 28th Symphony.
Skip a few trips to Starbucks & shell out $40 for this outstanding sophisticated performance of the clarinet concerto, along with other works of Mozart performed by Szell & the old hyper-disciplined Cleveland Orch. All things considered, this is a tremendous bargain & a treasure!
