Musical Masterpiece

This album is one of the most beautiful works of music that I own, jazz or otherwise.
I hear this album as a collection of love songs. While only one song is labeled as such, Shir Ahava Tari (Fresh love song), each tune seems to be a love song to either a person, place, or merely an idea. Each song is lyrical and exquisite,
and the collection of songs takes you on an emotional journey. Alon's melodies, harmonies, and textures seem to draw at least as much from the classical and traditional realm as they do from the jazz realm. Numi Numi, for example, is Alon's version of a traditional Israeli lullaby. Many tunes also seem to capture the impressionism of Debussy in which melody and harmony unfold to create a world of colors and emotions.
The music is always free and open, never feeling busy, impart due to wonderful playing by the bassist and drummer, the two of whom interact seamlessly with Alon. They provide colors and textures that both inspire and enhance what Alon is playing.
Quite simply, this album is a musical masterpiece that can be appreciated and loved not just by jazz lovers, but by anyone
who cherishes music that is meant to be felt as much as heard.
